Well, I always had an interest in forums from a young age and I also loved gaming so when I was 10 I put one and one together and opened a free hosted forum about gaming and it really just went on from there learning more and more and really just enjoying the atmosphere of the whole forum scene.
From all that is just hit me that I should open an admin forum because it just suited what I loved most and that of course being forums it just all made perfect sense.

I definitely feel XenForo is better than vBulletin. It's hard to give specific reasons as I have not used vBulletin long term but I can say I always feel like XenForo forums run much faster and the admin panel is simply amazing, I really don't think it could have been done any better.
I actually got myself an XenForo license within an hour of discovering it and I have not looked back at any other software since. I feel that says a lot since I have ran a forum on every major forum software solution, some more long term than others like how I mentioned vBulletin but nonetheless I won't ever look back. I now own 3 active XenForo licenses.

vbulletin has become bloated it seems. Back at vbulletin 3.8 it felt much faster. I've considered switching to XenForo but why fix something that isn't broke (and spend more money). What SEO/Promotion strategy are you using for your forum?

Yeah I can agree with that. I much preferred 3.8.
I also understand that but hey if you're even considering it sooner is better than later but for now I do get what you mean.
As for SEO/Promotion I do various things..
-Promotional Threads
-Review Threads
-Manual backlink building on forums, in signatures, on blog comments, etc
-Word of mouth
-Competitions
-Link exchanges within niche/similar
-Twitter
-Facebook
Just stuff like that and a few other things here and there. Started to get a lot more organic traffic from search engines.
I am yet to pay for any advertising.
What about you?
Dillon. I mentioned it in the first post.
