I would like to know how would you rate the following link building strategies for the search engine optimization.

Number 1/top one will represent the best link building strategy and the last one will be worst one.

For me, the order would be as follows:
1. Forum Link Building
2. Article Submission
3. Blog Comments
4. Social Bookmarking
5. Social Networking
6. Press Releases
7. Directory Submission
8. Other

I think MMM about nailed it except I would switch 1 and 2.

But anyway, those in my link building list (in no particular order) include social bookmarking, social networking, forum posting, guest blogging and blog commenting. I use a tool called ‘Keyword Country’ to find quality sources for link-building and that too in a completely natural and legitimate way...

According to me forum posting, social bookmarking and directory submission are very essential to get rank in Google. In terms of SEO you can also generate genuine backlinks from these techniques.

Those top two are really awesome for getting backlinks. The reason i like forums is cause you can make tiny three line posts and still get a signature line back. It doesn't take as much effort as rewriting an entire article. That's assuming you're rewriting and not using software to spin. Though i like forums, cause i'm on forums most of the day anyway. So, it's just intuitive to get back links from those.
