Hosting, from good to bad
I don't know if this is right forum but just wanted to share my pain. I changed so many hosters in my professional life, but always see the same thing, at least with those that introduce good value for money: their services are sooooo amazing at the beginning but starting from the second year, you get more and more trouble related as to hosting itself as to support of clients. So annoying when you get good and talkative guys suddenly convering into silent ghosts that you can never get answers from. Some ppl are making the name for their hosting services and then sell the business to some jerk without an idea about running the server. Uh, I hate this, rather pay more money for the great support.

Yeah, I agree. A lot of the hosting providers I used are owned by a small of people that most of the time don't even own their own datacenters and hardware (they just resell others). I found ThePlanet for Dedis and they are amazing and Linode for VPS. Both have phenomenal support. ThePlanet even called me in the middle of the night to let me know my server crashed and they are looking into fixing it - this is impressive. Having support that is aware of problems before I even am and then fixing those problems is amazing.

I had a choice between linode and Thrustvps and choose the last one for the sake of live support, now I will not recommend it to anyone, they have big issues with accounting. They shutdown my vps in Friday night for not paying, but i payed month ago for one year. So I had to wait till Monday to re-enable service and i didn't get any compensation. This is last year I'm with them. Need to write this review one day.

Wow, that sucks. You should be irate with them - even demand your money back so you can move on now. Linode and SliceHost are both awesome VPS providers but they are expensive as well. I love the convenience of their VPS dashboard and on demand servers.

See, my current employer is always looking for cheaper, it's non-profit. So, I was always trying to look for best value for money. Anyway, I convert our site to wp from typo3 and that shouldn't require vps, I think to move back to shared. If I leave, there will be no one to take care of Linux server. I'm second gik in this organization, first one already got his own business. Difficult to work when you obligated to look for cheaper, and then your fault when it's not working.

Always looking for cheaper will land you on bad hosts, that is for sure. You are right, WP should not require a vps unless you get massive traffick.

And because this situation arises I actually read review in various forums and ask at various forums about a hosting company

This can save your time and money.

Ok, thanks, can someone recommend me hoster? I need shared linux hosting with ssh and cPanel, and no less than 10 mysql bases.

Are you going shares then? I recommend sharkspace reseller although they have been bought by a new company.
