Which forum back links are relevant for SEO?
So let's suppose you get a back link from a page on a high page rank popular forum that has been around for awhile. Assuming that page is not new (as in the page has already been indexed), is the back link on that page more relevant for SEO purposes than getting a link on a newly created forum page?

I would say the thread/page which has better pr and has huge traffic is really beneficial. For example, here at tf the backlinks from computer section will be really important, as there will be many visitors coming to those pages, as few problem mentioned in that section as common.

Yes! Absolutely. That page will have a higher PR and possibly have many inbound links. These inbound links are links to your backlinks and give major link boost in the link juice you get. You will not find this on a newly created thread post.
The bad thing is most forums hate reviving dead threads and can cause your account to get banned.
