What methods should I consider when designing a banner for getting maximum clicks?

Flashy banners seem to work and perhaps even ugly banners that have high-contrast with the site it is on. Most people have become professionals at ignoring ads so it is now your job to grab their attention, in any way possible.

Basically, animated banners helps alot in getting more clicks since they always get the attention of the site's visitors. But always minimize the file size of your animated ads for it to load fast.

1) Catchy
2) It should have written "free" on it

Yeah, the word "free" is as much as possible, big enough to entice visitors of the sites you are advertising to.

Animated banners with an interesting idea. I like to make it the way when there is some understatement. There design should arouse a question the answer to which can be got after clicking to that banner and going to that site to understand what's the sense.

You can incorporate your "link baiting" on your animated banners by doing that. Banners with "discounts" or "SALE" on it are said to be clicked more than others.
