Forum signature works

I generally include my information in my signature line (although, I never have here, come to think of it) and post as often as time permits in forums that are relevant to my line of work.

Then there are the forums,I visit because I'm looking for information that they have that I need, like this one. I guess that's why I haven't bothered using my signature; I'm here to learn how to improve my website, not necessarily promote my fiction.

Right.I use sig links in forums that are revelent.If i am in a webmaster forum,ill use webmaster sig links.If im in a gaming forum,ill use links to game sites,clan sites etc.

I thing signature link is best way to generate traffic for yous site without money. But one thing sure that you have to make some important posts on the forums and you have nice reputation there, so people come your site via sig. link or profile link.

I am getting traffic from forum signature links but I dont think its good for seo unless forum is very well indexed.

There obviously seems to be a lot of contraversy about signatures in forums.

What i heard is that they definitley count in msn and yahoo, but not sure about google.

As webkid said, you could use them for traffic. But im not sure about your statement about properly indexed. How would that effect the SEO?

Yep, signatures definitely help. Just make sure your read the forum rules, and verify that your site is ok. Some forums don't allow you to post other forums on your signature, even if it's not of the same category. This happened to me recently on a forum I had just joined. There's not many sites like this, but they definitely do exist.
