I don't think there are any outdated techniques.. i mean old seo technique can still bring you visitors

Doorway pages and keyword stuffing was very popular when i first started online but now considered black hat or outdated.

i can't agree with you totally
because noting has become outdated. may be some lost their value live previous days. but not Zero. like Directory submission. Once upon a time we submitted out new born site to 500 directories and got a SERP of 20. but now it can give support till 50. not like before

From what i remember, the first site was keyword stuffed with all kinds of keywords and articles and such. But the site that it redirected to was a very professional retail shopping site. The first site was very crude looking, three columns but the second site was very slick, flash based. Not sure they use that technique anymore but back five years or so ago, it was common.
