Choppy FTP connection to shared server environment
I got a $7 per month plan on a server and I have a problems with FTP connection. I am trying to upload a 20MB file with multiple folders and files in it and the connection is very choppy and I literally was not able to do that since yesterday.
Does anybody knows how this work? Do they just impose some kind of limit on the connection and there is no way to get around that? This is a major obstacle and can get frustrating etc...
Thank you.

If your hosting includes cpanel use it's internal file manager, I always use it, it way faster and more efficient than ftp. You can upload zip file and extract it on server, and it economize your traffic. Try it, if you like the advise, welcome to press thanks button =)

Also look at using a local client like filezilla as it will continue uploads if a connection is dropped.
Thanks

Thanks for the answers so far. I was talking to some other companies and they did not see a problem with hosting like 30 Wordpress installations on a plan like this (what would be the reality I am not sure), but it does not seem like a whole lot today to have 60-80MB on a server and 5 or so databases, whatever the plan would be. I am wondering whether I should swith right away or just see how it goes for a while (they told me that they increased some limits etc). I also had a better plan with this company and it was good, so I am probably gonna stick to it for a while.
Somebody already told me about FileZill so I am already using it. If I go to cPanel and upload zip files, how would I extract them later? I think I can do it with SSH, but I am still not sure how. But anyway, I cant be struggling to upload 10MB to a server because of something etc... I am sure I would be able to find a better deal somewhere else (again just few Wordpress installations, very low traffic etc).
Does this sound like asking for too much for $75.00 for 12 months, as compared to other companies?
Thank you.

hello,
ZIP is a windows compression you would have to use TAR but would have to untar these by command line. You can create TAR with a freeware program called 7zip
Yes it does sound like a lot compared to other hosts and our packages. If you like we can offer you a free month for you to test, not being sales just trying to help. PM me if you like.
Thanks

If you upload zip or tar or gz file with cPanel file manager, you can extract them by this same file manager, you just select your uploaded files or files (yes you can even extract several files one operation,) and press button extract on the tool panel of the file manager, or click one time on file's icon and choose extract menu option.

I was taling to somebody at HostGator chat and they told me that they've had over 30 Wordpress installation on a Baby plan (thats a name, around $7 per month also). They also offer the most basic VPS (just to have somethin to compare here) for around $20 per month with 10GB storage.
It is a little more than what I have but it seems kind of odd that I would not be able to upload files to a server etc (the offer says unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage). I had a VPS with them and it was good, but with something like this they damage their reputation also - blocking customers from uploading 5-10MB etc!
All that just doesnt sound right, I'll see how it goes and if I had problems I will simply get out (I got out of like ten places before I found this one though, when I had VPS - it is never as easy as it should be with this).
